Cuny Excelsior Scholarship 2018-19

Excelsior Scholarship application is available online since March 26, 2018, for the 2018-19 academic year and the due date is July 26, 2018. Therefore, to apply for the scholarship you have to use 2016 tax return.

The Programm is for the People who cant pay for their tuition and sometimes is hard for them to manage the tuition fees. However, New York State Governor Cuomo announces to the people of New York that the Government is behind those individuals who cant pay for their Tuitions. Therefore every individual whose family income is 110,000 $ or less than that for the 2018-19 academic year because if the family income exceeds from 110,000 for 22018-19 academic calendar those individuals wouldn't be considered eligible for the Scholarship.

Though whoever is eligible for this scholarship he/she would have to register for at least 30 credits in a year, which is 15 credits per semester and because of this policy summer session doesn't include towards the policy of the scholarship, which is 30 credit in a year.

Meanwhile, every individual who wants to apply for this scholarship, He/She has to apply for FAFSA and TAP in advance and then for this scholarship.

certain rules should be followed once you have started to receive this scholarship which is that if you graduated from college while receiving this scholarship. such as an individual who got the scholarship in 2017, for the whole year and now he graduating in spring 2018. Once he graduated from college he has to work in New York and stay here. however, if that individual left ahead of the time the scholarship that he received for 2017 would be turned in to a loan which he has to repay the government.

Example:  John Dowe applied for FAFSA, TAP and then Excelsior Scholarship but the Tap and FAFSA don't cover his tuition, therefore, excelsior scholarship is there to help him get rid of the dues. However, he has to be enrolled for at least 15 credits in that semester otherwise he wouldn't be eligible for the Scholarship.
